MSU has found an ultramassive black hole

Scientists of MSU have opened a supermassive black hole in the center of the galaxy Fornax UCD3 which belongs to the rare class of ultracompact dwarfs. Results of work have been published in the Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society magazine. It is reported in the press release which is available at the disposal of the editorial office of Lenta.ru. The galaxy of Fornax UCD3 belongs to a congestion of galaxies in the constellation the Furnace. She belongs to very rare and unusual class of ultracompact dwarfs (UCD). The mass of such dwarfish galaxies is several tens of millions of mass of the Sun, and their radius, as a rule, doesn't exceed three hundred light years. Image: NASA/STScI/ESO/Afanasiev et al. During the galaxy research scientists used data of the infrared SINFONI spectrograph which is installed on one of the VLT telescopes in Chile. Authors have established dependence of dispersion of speeds of stars on radius in the galaxy of Fornax UCD3. Dispersion of speeds shows how visible speeds of stars differ from average value. In the presence of a massive object, such as black hole, stars begin to move quicker, and in any directions. As a result of their average speed doesn't increase, and here dispersion strongly grows. It has turned out that dispersion of speeds of stars in the center of the galaxy is so big that is explained only by presence of a massive black hole. For assessment of mass of a black hole scientists have compared the received dependence of speed and dispersion to dynamic models. it has become clear that it is the is best of all the model which assumes the mass of a black hole in 3,5 million solar masses will be coordinated with observations. Scientists have also considered the possibility of lack of a black hole, but she has been excluded with the statistical importance in three sigma (99,7 percent). It is the fourth hole found in ultracompact dwarfs, and her weight is four percent from the full mass of the galaxy. In usual galaxies this relation is significantly less (about 0,3 percent). Existence of massive black holes in ultracompact dwarfs is considered the certificate in favor of tidal origin of these galaxies. The usual galaxy of the normal sizes during some period of the evolution has passed too close from other, larger and massive galaxy. Because of influence of tidal forces of UCD3 has lost the most part of the stars which were on the periphery and from her there was only a compact kernel.
